The Columbus Police Department consists of the Record Division, the Criminal Investigations Division, the Narcotics Division, and the Uniform Patrol Division. The Criminal Investigations Division reviews reports submitted to uniform officers to determine if the case will be forwarded to a detective, and investigates major crimes. The Narcotics Division Drugs combats drug-related crimes affecting the community. The Uniform Patrol Division responds to crisis calls.
Public copies of accident reports are available 24 hours after the accident occurs. Accident Reports carry a $5 fee. Accident Reports can also be purchased at www.buycrash.com. All other reports must be obtained from the Records Division. The Records Division is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. Individuals should provide the number or date, location of the incident, name and date of birth of the involved.
