The Franklin Police Department has a Uniform Division that employs 40 sworn officers. The Uniform Division has several subunits including a Bicycle Unit that helps the department to interact with the community in a positive manner. There are several K9 Units, which are responsible for narcotics detection, tracking, and apprehension. The SWAT team handles high risk warrants, suicidal persons, hostage situations and situations in which negotiations fail. The Explosive Ordnance Disposal team handles hazardous explosive devices.

To acquire a copy of an accident report, individuals must pay a $5 fee via money order or cashier’s check to the Franklin Police Department. Copies of the report should be available within 2 days of the date of the crash. An envelope that is self-addressed should also be submitted to the department so the report can be sent back. Copies of accident reports can be obtained in person at the Police Department Monday-Friday from 8:00am to 4:00pm.
